War in Blue is the first in the series referencing the Ludovisi Battle Sarcophagus. This piece took around 3.5 months and 300 hours to complete. While the painting appears gray, it utilizes three colors: white, black, and blue. These blue hues become apparent only upon comparison with the other pieces in the series, illustrating how color is relative, much like our attitudes toward and perception of war.
